Denis was the youngest of 14 children born to Agnes and Gratien Camino in Arnegi, Lower Navarre in the French Basque Country. At the age of 18 he traveled to Buffalo to work with his oldest brother Martin on his ranch. After four years working for Martin and several other ranches in the area, he returned to the Basque Country for a time where he worked as a mason. Returning to the US, he then worked at the Centro Basco in Chino for a time and eventually returned to Buffalo where he continued to herd sheep for his brother and eventually for his nephew John. Even in his 80s, he continued to work at the Winchester Steak House in Buffalo.
Denis was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and the Big Horn Basque Club. He is survived by his sister Mayi Gallo of Agen, France, and numerous nieces and nephews both here in the US and abroad. He was predeceased by his parents, all but one of his siblings, and his long-time companion, Judi Semroska.
