July 2021 was another hot month for the Sheridan area, and it could be the same for August.
The National Weather Service in Billings, Montana says the average temperature for July in Sheridan was 75.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
That makes July 2021 the 5th warmest July on record and that average is 4.9 degrees above normal.
Meteorologist Nickolai Reimer from the Weather Service Office in Billings says there probably won’t be much of a pattern change for August temperature-wise.
He adds it may look like a few more storms could hit the area, but there’s a catch to that, and it’s not a good thing.
“We might see a little bit more thunderstorm activity which is probably not really anything anyone is looking for right now because they don’t look like they’re going to have a lot of rain with them, so the lightning activity is probably going to be more of a fire starter than any kind of meaningful precipitation for getting us out of the drought conditions or at least giving some relief to farmers and ranchers.”
High temperatures for the first half of next week are forecasted to be in the low to middle 80’s.
