Chris Vrba, Marketing & Development Contractor, Sheridan Community Land Trust (SCLT), announced on February 27 that there will be an important schedule update for SCLT programs at The Hub on Smith. These programs will now be held on the second Wednesday of each month, instead of Tuesday.

On Wednesday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the Hub on Smith, the SCLT Explore History Program for March will highlight the History of the Big Goose Natural Area.

Led by SCLT History Program Manager Kevin Knapp, the presentation will provide an in-depth look at the Natural Area’s layered past. Participants will learn about recent archaeological survey results and explore the historical development of the property, including the history of KN Gardens, General George Crook’s Cloud Peak Camp, and the historic streetcar system and coal carts that once served the region’s mining districts.

A repeat of this program will be held on Tuesday, March 17 from 10:30 a.m.–12:00 noon, at the Tongue River Valley Community Center (TRVCC) in Dayton.

These programs are free and open to the public.

Through its Explore History series, SCLT works to connect the community with the cultural landscapes that shape Sheridan County — strengthening stewardship by understanding the stories beneath our feet.
