Ron RichterThe application period for the Energy Capital Start-Up Challenge entrepreneur competition is now open. Energy Capital Economic Development announced that the competition is open to residents from Campbell, Crook, Johnson, Sheridan and Weston Counties. Applicants will be vying for a portion of a $50,000 seed capital fund that is being raised for the event.
Since there will not be a Sheridan Start-Up Challenge this year, Sheridan and Johnson County entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply to the Energy Capital Challenge. Former IMPACT Sheridan Director Scot Rendall is assisting ECED with the Challenge and will help advise applicants. Interested entrepreneurs are encouraged to provide some basic information, including a summary of their business idea, the market they plan to serve, and advantages of their offering over competitive or alternative options. The application is available here.
An optional entrepreneur training bootcamp will be held on Friday, September 20 in Gillette. Applications will be accepted through October 7th. A panel of judges will select the top submissions for a semi-final round. Of those contenders, five finalists will be chosen to work with ECED to further develop their plans and prepare a presentation for Pitch Night, which will be on Wednesday, December 4th.
Pitch Night will be held at Gillette College in the Career and Technical Education center. Attendance is free and will include a reception for the finalists immediately following the business plan pitch presentations. The event will be livestreamed by a team from the City of Gillette.
