Sex Offender Charged with Intestate Child Sex Crimes

U.S. Attorney for the District of Wyoming Bob Murray announced that 36-year-old Taylon Jeffery Bain of Richey, Montana was charged with transporting a minor to engage in prohibited sexual conduct and commission of a felony offense by a registered sex offender. Bain, at a recent arraignment hearing, pleaded not guilty to the charges before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kelly H. Rankin in Federal Court in Wyoming. A trial date of May 31 has been scheduled before U.S. District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson.

If convicted on both charges, Bain faces ten years to life imprisonment and fines of up to $250,000. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. The crime is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Dawson County Sheriff’s Office in Montana and the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office in Wyoming. Assistant United States Attorney Kerry J. Jacobson is prosecuting the case.
