Sheridan/Johnson County HS Basketball: The Wyoming High School Basketball season started for many teams this past weekend and the Sheridan and Johnson County boys and girls teams went a combined 19-19 in games played.

Both the Sheridan boys and girls went 2-1 in Casper.

They are scheduled to play again this coming Thursday in their home opener vs. Natrona County and on Friday at Kelly Walsh.

The Tongue River girls went 4-0 in games played at Glenrock, while the boys were 1-3.

The Big Horn girls turned in a 2-1 record, while the boys went 1-2.

The Arvada-Clearmont girls went 1-2, while the boys lost their lone game of the week.

The Buffalo boys and girls each went 0-3, while both the Kaycee boys and girls went 3-1.

Buffalo and Big Horn are scheduled to play each other tomorrow, with the boys game in Johnson County and the girls game in Sheridan County.

BH and TR are also scheduled to host the Foothills Classic this coming Thursday thru Saturday.


Sheridan/Johnson County HS Wrestling: The Sheridan boys went 3-2 in duals on Friday at Cheyenne East, while the girls were in Rapid City, South Dakota.

This Friday and Saturday the Broncs will be at Gillette, while the Lady Broncs host a meet on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Tongue River and Buffalo boys as well the Sheridan JV boys were in Powell, while the TR and Buffalo girls were at the Cody Invitational held in Thermopolis.

The TR girls placed 4th in the team standings.

Sheridan/Buffalo HS Boys Swimming and Diving: The Boys Swimming and Diving season also started this past weekend at the Gillette Relays and Pentathlon.

In the relay races, Buffalo picked up 4 wins to finish 4th overall, while Sheridan was 6th.

In the Pentathlon, Bronc Senior Ben Forsythe dominated, winning 3 races and was 2nd in 1 other.

The weekend’s schedule has Buffalo hosting a meet Thursday, and the Casper schools host on Friday and Saturday.


Sheridan Hawks/Lady Hawks Amateur Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks won both home games vs. Pinedale, by scores of 3-1 and 6-1, then against Cody, the team won the first game 7-5 and tied the second game 1-1.

The Hawks are 7-0-1 on the season and are next scheduled to play this coming Friday and Saturday at home vs. Gillette.

The Sheridan Lady Hawks split home games vs. Cheyenne, winning the first game 13-2, but dropped the second game 5-3.

The team is not scheduled to play again until January 10th and 11th at Casper. 


Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks lost the first game of the NA3HL Showcase Event yesterday against the undefeated defending champ Louisiana Drillers 6-4.

The Hawks play again today against the Long Beach Sharks out of Long Island, New York at 5:30pm.


University of Wyoming Men’s and Women’s Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys are scheduled to play their final non-conference game today against South Dakota State.

The game will be played in Sioux Falls instead of Brookings.

Tip off is scheduled for 6pm and you can hear the game LIVE on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.

The Wyoming Cowgirls were clobbered in their final non-conference game yesterday at Minnesota 80-34.

The ladies only shot about 30% for the game, while the opposition was at 56%.

Malene Pedersen was the leading scorer for UW with 10 points.

The Cowgirls are scheduled to start Mountain West Conference play this coming Wednesday at home vs. San Jose State.


Mountain West Conference Football: The bowl season started this past weekend, and the Mountain West Conference got off to an 0-1 start, as Boise State lost in the LA Bowl against Washington 38-10.

The next bowl game is 1 week from today as Utah State takes on Washington State in the Idaho Potato Bowl.


Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos prevailed in a shootout at home vs. Green Bay yesterday 34-26 and clinched a playoff spot in the process.

Quarterback Bo Nix was 26 of 34 passing for 302 yards and 4 touchdowns tosses.

On the receiving end of those TD’s were Michael Brandy, Lil’Jordan Humphrey, Cortland Sutton and Troy Franklin.

Sutton had 113 receiving yards in the game.

RJ Harvey also ran for 1 touchdown.

The defense helped out with 3 sacks and 2 interceptions.

Denver’s win streak is now at 11 and the team next plays this coming Sunday at home vs. Jacksonville.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won on Saturday at home vs. Nashville 4-2.

The Avs are next scheduled to play tomorrow at Seattle.
