Billings Woman Involved In The Death Of Sheridan Resident Dennis Gresham Sentenced

A Billings, Montana woman will be spending time behind bars for her role in an armed robbery that left a Sheridan man dead.
The Billings Gazette reports 32-year old Kristy Chavez was sentenced to 30 years in the Montana Women’s Prison, after she pleaded guilty to one charge of armed robbery.
According to investigators with the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office, in late April of last year, 32-year old Dennis Gresham of Sheridan was sleeping in his van at the Yellowstone River Campground on the outskirts of Billings, when Chavez and Michael McClure approached in the early morning hours.
The 2 forced their way into Gresham’s van, where a struggle ensued and Gresham was beaten and shot multiple times.
Chavez and McClure then drove the van, with Gresham’s body still inside, to a hardware store in Laurel, and eventually law enforcement located them.
A vehicle chase ensued and ended when McClure crashed the van somewhere on the west side of Billings.
Chavez was then chased down on foot and apprehended.
McClure managed to flee and get into an empty home, and later committed suicide after an hours-long standoff with members of law enforcement.
Chavez was also charged with deliberate homicide by accountability, but that charge was dropped in a plea deal.
