Sheridan HS Boys Basketball: All but one Sheridan County High School basketball team will be back in action this weekend, now that the winter break is over.

That one will be the Sheridan boys, because the team played between the Christmas and New Years’ Holidays.

Teams are only allowed to play a certain number of days in a season, thus the Broncs have to take this week off from competition. to avoid going over that limit.

What this means is that when the boys resume play after their 2 week break, they will start conference play, with no games the week before to help prepare.

Head Coach Jeff Martini says this season requires a different approach compared to normal.

The Sheridan Lady Broncs will play in the Cheyenne Invitational beginning tomorrow.


Big Horn Girls Basketball: Last year was the first time since 2019 that Big Horn qualified for the state tournament, and the chances of returning to Casper this year are off to a promising start.

The Lady Rams are 6-2 so far this season, and their biggest win so far came against Wyoming Indian in overtime last month.

Head Coach Coty Nikont says if the girls can keep things together as the season goes on, then the sky’s the limit.

BH is scheduled to play 4 games at home this weekend.

Tomorrow they will take on Pine Bluffs at 7pm.

On Friday, the team will go up against Thermopolis at 1pm and 3A Burns at 6:30.

Shoshoni is Saturday’s opponent, starting at 11:30am.


University of Wyoming Men’s and Women’s Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys showed up last night and clobbered UNLV at home 98-66.

It’s their largest margin of victory against a Mountain West Conference opponent since 2001.

The Pokes shot 55% from the field, compared to 37% for the Runnin’ Rebels.

The Brown and Gold also went 23 of 29 from the free throw line, got 34 points from the bench, and outrebounded the opposition 29-18…including 14 boards on offense.

Leland Walker went off for 28 points.

Khaden Bennett put in 13, Damarion Dennis added in a dozen and Nasir Meyer contributed with 10.

UW is now 11-4 on the season and have evened up their conference record at 2-2.

The team is next scheduled to play this coming Saturday at Nevada.

Meanwhile, the Wyoming Cowgirls are scheduled to play in Reno today against the Lady Wolfpack.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm, and you can hear the game LIVE on Fox Sports 106.3 FM.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche lost last night at Tampa Bay 4-2.

The Avs return home tomorrow to take on Ottawa, in what is the start of a 7-game homestand.
