Sheridan HS Boys Basketball: The Sheridan High School Boys Basketball team had a pretty easy first game at the Cactus Jam tournament this past Saturday in Phoenix.
The Broncs defeated Enumclaw, Washington 73-40 and will play Coronado High School based out of Scottsdale, Arizona today at 1:30pm.
The team will play one more game tomorrow.
The opponent and start time is dependent on today’s results.
Mountain West Conference Football: The bowl season is over for the Mountain West Conference, and the 7 teams that represented the conference did not fare well in general.
The MWC went a combined 2-5 in bowl games, with Hawaii and Fresno State getting the 2 W’s.
Next football season the conference will look different as Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Utah State are leaving to join the Pac 12.
There will be 9 teams in the conference next year as Northern Illinois and the University of Texas El-Paso will join.
The teams that are staying put will be Wyoming, Air Force, New Mexico, San Jose State, Hawaii, Nevada and UNLV.
Denver Broncos Football: For the first time in 10 years, the Denver Broncos are champs of the AFC West.
The team won on Christmas Day at Kansas City 20-13, and got some help when the LA Chargers lost on Saturday at home vs. Houston.
Denver still has 1 regular season game remaining, which is this coming Sunday at home against the Chargers.
The Broncos are tied with New England for the #1 seed in the AFC playoffs, and currently hold the tie-breaker against the Patriots, due to having a better record vs. common opponents.
The difference happened at the beginning of the season when New England lost at home vs. Las Vegas.
If Denver loses Sunday’s game against the Chargers, they still can still get the #1 seed, provided the Patriots lose at home vs. Miami AND if Jacksonville loses at home vs. Tennessee.
If the Broncos lose to the Chargers and don’t get help, the worst they would be in the playoffs is the #3 seed.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won on Christmas Day at home vs. Minnesota 142-138 in overtime, but lost on Saturday at Orlando 127-126.
The Nuggets are next scheduled to play today at Miami.
Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30pm.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won on Saturday at Las Vegas 6-5, winning via shootout 2-1.
The Avs are next scheduled to play today at home vs. LA.
The puck drops at 7pm.
