Beck Haswell of Sheridan HS To Play Football At The University Of Wyoming: A Sheridan Bronc Football player is trading in his blue and gold, to play for the brown and gold and perhaps get an opportunity to play with his older brother.
Beck Haswell has signed a written offer of athletic aid, to play defensive end at the University of Wyoming.
This past season he recorded 41 tackles and had 6 sacks, to help the Broncs to their 4th straight undefeated season and 5th consecutive state championship.
His older brother Alex, graduated from Sheridan HS 2 years ago, but has yet to play for the Pokes, due to redshirting and an injury.
Beck says the UW Coaching Staff made the offer at a camp in late June, and credits his brother for getting him involved in the sport.
Beck adds he is considering majoring in business.
The Cowboy football team reports that it has signed the top 2 recruits in the state, according to 247sports.com.
Haswell was #1, and Jackson Garrett of Cheyenne Central was the other.
Sheridan HS Girls Basketball: Sheridan is looking to get back to the top of the mountain after being bumped off of it last year.
The Lady Broncs are last season’s 4A State Runner-Up and are under new leadership with Coach Chris Wagner, who came over from Cody.
He says there are some similarities with the style of play that he prefers to coach vs. how the team played last season and with a few exceptions, it’s not like they just started learning last week.
Sheridan is scheduled to start the season one week from today in Casper.
The team will play an inter-squad scrimmage this coming Saturday morning.
The event is open to the public.
Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: Now that the Sheridan Hawks have swung the pendulum the other way in their rivalry against Gillette, players are now shifting their focus to a new thorn in their side.
The team will play a home-and-home series vs. Rapid City this coming Friday and Saturday.
The Sabres have won all 3 head-to-head meetings so far this season, and 2 of those 3 have been 1-goal games.
Hawks Head Coach J.J. Santagata says the old sports saying of some teams matchup better than others is true in this case.
Friday’s game on the road is scheduled to begin at 7:05pm and the puck is scheduled to drop in Saturday’s home game at 7:30pm.
These will be the last games before the NA3HL’s Showcase Event which is scheduled to begin on Sunday, December 14th in Minnesota.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won last night at Indiana 135-120.
Jamal Murray went off for 52 points and was 10 of 11 from behind the 3-point line.
The Nuggets are next scheduled to play tomorrow at Atlanta and on Sunday at Charlotte.
