Sheridan HS Boys Basketball: While most Wyoming High School basketball teams are taking 2 weeks off from competition for the winter break, the Sheridan Broncs are preparing to play some games.
The team will head to Phoenix the day after the Christmas Holiday to play in the Cactus Jam in a 6-team bracket, with games scheduled for Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.
Sheridan Head Coach Jeff Martini says there’s not much of a scouting report to look at, and the plan for the team is to stick with what they know how to do and evaluate everything afterwards.
Broncs senior Nate Miner says it’s not often a team plays games during the winter break and explains both the pluses and minuses of the situation.
Sheridan is scheduled to play this coming Saturday against Enunclaw, Washington, which is about 40 miles southeast of Seattle.
Tip off is scheduled for 1:30pm.
Future start times and opponents are dependent on Saturday’s results.
Former Sheridan HS Football Players To Play In FCS National Championship Game: This past weekend Montana State secured their spot in the Football Championship Sub-Division National Championship Game for the second year in a row, and 3 former Sheridan High School Football players will get another shot at a national championship.
The #2 seed Bobcats will play in the FCS National Championship Game on Monday, January 5th at 5:30pm Mountain Time in Nashville, Tennessee, against unranked Illinois State who have been on a Cinderella run.
Playing for MSU are former Sheridan Broncs Brock Steel, his younger brother Dane Steel, as well as Colson Coon, all of which have seen some playing time this season.
Montana State played in last year’s FCS National Championship Game, but had their bid for a perfect season spoiled by North Dakota State.
Mountain West Conference Football Bowl Games: The Mountain West Conference is now 0-2 in bowl games, after Utah State lost yesterday against Washington State 34-21 in the Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise.
Mountain West Conference Bowl games continue today as UNLV plays Ohio University in the Frisco Bowl, starting at 7pm.
Hawaii hosts Cal in the Hawaii Bowl tomorrow at 6pm.
On Friday, it’s New Mexico vs. Minnesota in the Rate Bowl at 2:30pm.
There are 2 bowl games on Saturday as Fresno State takes on Miami of Ohio in the Arizona Bowl at 2:30pm and then San Diego State plays against North Texas in the New Mexico Bowl at 3:45pm.
Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won last night at home vs. Utah 135-112.
The Nuggets play again today at Dallas starting at 6pm and also play on Christmas Day at home vs. Minnesota, beginning at 8:30pm.
