Former Sheridan HS Football Players Help Montana State Win Football FCS National Championship: For the first time since 1984, the Montana State Football Team are the Football Championship Subdivision National Champions and several former Sheridan High School Football players had a hand in that game in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dane Steel hauled in what would be a 33 yard touchdown pass in the 2nd quarter, and would also hurdle a would-be tackler, to help the Bobcats win 35-34 in overtime against Illinois State.

Things looked promising at halftime with the scoreboard reading 21-7, but the opposition would tie the game midway through the 4th quarter, and MSU would block a field goal with about 1 minute to go to force overtime.

Illinois State would score first, but the PAT was blocked.

Montana State would score and convert to get the W.

Former Sheridan Bronc Colson Coon also had 1 tackle in the game.

MSU finished the season with a record of 14-2.
