Sheridan/Johnson County Sports Year In Review 2025
The calendar has reached the end of 2025, and a lot happened sports-wise in Sheridan and Johnson Counties.

Winter 2025:
The Sheridan Girls Basketball Team finished as 4A State Runners-Up, while the boys placed 3rd.
The Tongue River girls basketball team repeated as 2A State Champs.
The Sheridan Girls Wrestling team were State Runners-Up.
Becca Oetken became Wyoming’s first 3-time Girls Individual State Champ.
The Sheridan High School boys indoor track and field team 4-peated as state champs.
The Sheridan Lady Hawks repeated as WAHL State Champs.
The Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey Team qualified for the NA3HL Frontier Division playoffs and were eliminated in the first round.
Spring 2025:
Softball debuted at Sheridan High School.
The Lady Broncs went 19-11 with 2 ties and qualified for the state tournament.
The Buffalo boys soccer team claimed the 3A Crown in shootout fashion.
Goalie Orion Ostheimer was named the Wyoming Gatorade Player of the Year.
The Sheridan boys soccer team were 4A State Runners Up.
In April, former Sheridan College Men’s Basketball Coach Bruce Hoffman passed away at the age of 88.
Summer 2025:
The Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball team made it to the AA State Championship Game, and took home the runner-up trophy.
Fall 2025:
The team also increased their home win streak to 34, which is a new state record.
Beck Haswell of Sheridan was named the 2025 Wyoming Football Gatorade Player Of The Year.
Big Horn finished the season as 2A State Runners-Up.
BH won their 3rd State Volleyball Championship in a row in Class 2A and made it 4 of the last 5.
The Tongue River Volleyball team finished 3rd.
The Sheridan Boys Tennis team won their second state championship in school history.
The other was in 1985.
Matt Brown and Eric Venn are state champs at boys #1 doubles, while Sam Wilcox and Christian Lamen won boys #3 doubles.
The Sheridan boys cross country team won their second 4A state championship in school history.
The other was in 2019.
The Big Horn girls cross country team won their first ever 2A State Championship.
Lyla Marney repeated as the 2A Girls Individual Cross Country State Champ.
Ethan Rayo of Buffalo is the 3A Boys Individual Cross Country State Champ.
