Sheridan Man Arraigned on Two Drug Charges
An arraignment hearing was held Thursday in Fourth Judicial District Court for a 25-year-old Sheridan man charged with two counts of felony drug possession. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
On December 16, Kolter Kekich was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana. Kekich, at Thursday’s hearing, pleaded “not guilty” to both of the charges. District Court Judge John Fenn set the date for the three-day jury trial to begin on August 2 and scheduled the pretrial conference for July 9 at 9:30 am.
A petition by the State to revoke Kekich’s bond was also addressed at Thursday’s hearing. On February 13, Kekich, while out on bond for the two current drug possession charges, was arrested and charged with two additional drug possession charges. Kekich, at the hearing, admitted to violating the terms and conditions of his bond and Judge Fenn revoked the bond and set a new bond at $20,000 cash only. Judge Fenn said he set the bond high because of Kekich’s extensive criminal history, which includes nine different drug related convictions since 2011. Kekich faces up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to $10,000.
