District Court Arraignments

On January 25, Probation and Parole contacted the Sheridan Police Department requesting assistance in searching the vehicle of 31-year-old Cheyanne Aalbers who was at the Probation and Parole office in Sheridan. According to court documents, the request for assistance came after a corrections K-9 alerted to Aalber’s vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded an empty syringe, which prompted Probation and Parole to request  that a search be conducted at Aalber’s residence. A K-9 alerted to her bedroom, where fake urine used to cheat a drug screen and paraphernalia with fentanyl residue were seized by law enforcement. Aalbers was arrested and booked into the Sheridan County Detention Center.

At a hearing in District Court Tuesday, Aalbers pleaded not guilty to one count of felony possession of a controlled substance – fentanyl, and one count of misdemeanor defrauding a drug or alcohol screening. The possession charge is being prosecuted as a felony because Aalbers has four prior drug possession convictions out of Campbell County that occurred between 2017 and 2022.

District Court Judge Darci Phillips scheduled a three-day #6 stack jury trial to begin on July 21. A pretrial conference will take place June 23 at 9:30 am. Aalber’s bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were previously set in Sheridan County Circuit Court. The felony possession charge is punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. The misdemeanor defrauding a drug screen charge is punishable by six months in jail and a fine of up to $750.

Also arraigned Tuesday was 51-year-old Charles Trevino Jr. To the charge of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance – methamphetamine, Trevino Jr. pleaded not guilty. Trevino Jr.’s arrest was part of an investigation by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation into a suspected methamphetamine distribution ring in Sheridan County. Between June and December of 2025, Trevino Jr. allegedly conspired with persons known and unknown for the distribution of methamphetamine. The conspiracy charge is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.
