maybe we should check to see if its absolutely necessary for semis to be traveling within downtown areas..especially when our streets are ill prepared to handle such large machinery..I am a retired CDL operator and at times had to deliver within town limits..that was years ago and it was hazardous then..now with the growing population and construction ever increasing over those last few years, more thought should be given in the way we allow these streets to be safely used..case in point, now have another local family grieving the loss of another loved one…

The proposed west belt by-pass would have more than likely eased traffic conflicts that now exist. But the NIMBY’s won out (sigh!)

Perhaps these semi trucks that has to travel down town streets should be equipped with “Surround Technology”. I suggest this because my vehicle has this and I am glad it does. Also it is well known that all semi trucks has blind spots and this technology will effectively eliminate that.
