WHP is keeping an eye on the roads
The Wyoming Highway Patrol will be watching sections of roadways prone to flooding this spring season.
During an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Lieutenant Erik Jorgenson of the Wyoming Highway Patrol told listeners that the troopers will be keeping a sharp eye on a few locations that have flooded in past years.
Another area that has Jorgenson concerned is actually in Montana.
When flooding has taken the Interstate out of commission, Jorgenson said much of the large truck traffic utilizes the mountain passes. He and his team voice caution to newer semi-truck operators who may not have driven the grades on those passes in the past.
For those living in Sheridan County, Emergency Management has emplaced sandbag filling stations at the following locations:
- Sheridan County Fairgrounds-west side near fence line
- City of Sheridan Service Center at 1148 Kroe Lane. We are open from 7-4:30 Monday through Friday
- Fire Hall, Story
- Fire Hall, Big Horn
- Sheridan County shop (south of Girl’s School) Monday – Thursday, gate closes at 4:30 PM; closed Friday – Sunday.
- Ranchester Town Hall
- Dayton Town Shop
