Clearmont Council Meets on Monday

At Monday night’s Clearmont Town Council meeting, Mayor Chris Schock gave an update on the ongoing construction work that is going on in the town of Clearmont.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is working on a mill and overlay project with ADA upgrades which is a part of its 2026 State Transportation Improvement Program project list for 2026. The mill and overlay project will extend to Leiter.

Around the middle of July, WYDOT and Simon Construction began work in Clearmont, replacing waterlines and utilities that run along and across US 14/16.

The Town of Clearmont received funding from the Drinking Water State Revolving Account to help offset the cost of upgrading the waterline and other utilities that parallel the state highway. This project is scheduled to be completed by November 2026.

In other business, Schock talked about a possible new business in Clearmont. The business will be a small market, and a will serve sandwiches, coffee and cold beverages.

In the clerks report, Barbara Pepin said that Charrie Lara, the remote clerk, will be coming in to train and assist this coming week. “I’m excited about her coming,” Pepin said.

Schock also reported that Elaine Kristian of Alley Cat Allies is seeking interest in helping to trap, spay and neuter feral cats in the Clearmont area, and is asking for donations for the project.

Schock explained what they want to do.

The council voted to approve a $500 donation for the project.

The town also agreed to let a rancher fill his tank in the town to water his cattle until he can get a well on his property repaired.

Next meeting will be Monday August 17.
