Currently, Sheridan County has 21 residents hospitalized battling the virus.

Although entities who test and report the numbers to the Wyoming Department of Health are diligent in their duties, Sheridan Memorial Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Addlesperger reminds the public that not all residents who contract COVID-19 are getting tested and reporting the results.

Late Tuesday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention gave the final approval for youngsters ages 5 to 11 to get kid-size doses of the vaccine made by Pfizer and its partner BioNTech.

The WDH reported that prior to the approval, the department stated that a beginning supply of the pediatric Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has already been delivered to public health offices across the state.

Parents seeking information on the kid sized vaccine should contact their pediatrician, Addlesperger said. The hospital’s vaccination clinic will not be administering the vaccines to 5-11 year olds.
