cvannoyThe 45th Annual Dayton Days kicked off on Friday, July 29, with the Cow-pie classic, tennis shoe kick off, and a pool party on Friday.
On Saturday, July 30, the Dayton/Ranchester Rotary Club served a pancake breakfast. There was also a one-mile fun run, and then the parade began at 10 a.m, followed by a Native American Powwow at 11:30 in Scott Bicentennial Park.
Isabella Yellowtail, senior co-princess at the Sheridan WYO Rodeo, was one of the dancers, and she said that they had been doing the Dayton Days Powwow for two years.
During the day on Saturday, there was a duck race down Tongue River, and many of the youngsters enjoyed wading in the creek as well. There was a volleyball tournament, a pie eating contest, and a fireman’s water fight were all on the schedule.
Leonard Bends announced the powwow dances and said this about the dancers.
There was a corn hole tournament, many vendors selling raffle tickets, food, including Indian Tacos, hamburgers and kettle corn.
A Concert in park with music by Cruizin’ wound up the Saturday events, and on Sunday there was a BBQ in the park.
