The Sheridan Hawks split weekend road games this past weekend at Bozeman.

Vincent Leaf scored 4 times in Friday’s 7-2 win.

While getting the road split is normally the goal each weekend, a familiar problem has returned and that is that Sheridan has been unable to follow up on a big win.

Leaf says it’s usually the same players on both teams the next day, but the style of play sometimes changes and the Hawks sometimes have trouble remembering that.

“I think the big thing for us is we win Friday and then kind of think the same thing is going to be given Saturday and we’re finding out that you got to show up every night. Got to be consistent and that’s kind of our MO for the next 14 games.”

Sheridan is on the road this weekend for a 2-game series against Great Falls.

The Sheridan Hawks went on the road to take on the Bozeman Icedogs for the first weekend of the new year.

To start the game on Friday night the Hawks would score on a power play with a goal from Vincent Leaf, Dante Hunziker and Elijah White with the assists.

Leaf would score another goal before the end of the first period, Lucas Paliwodzinski and Dante Hunziker with another assist.

In the second period the Icedogs got on the board early in the frame just over a minute and a half in.

But then, Vincent Leaf would then finish his hat trick with another power play goal for the Hawks, Elijah White and Jameson Clark with the assist, and soon after Clark netted a goal of his own on a power play, Elijah White with his third assist of the game.

Before the end of the second period Max Krueger would score for the Hawks, Dante Hunziker with his third assist of the game, Deagan Watson picking up an assist.

In the final period the Icedogs would finally answer back with their second and last goal of the night before Dante Hunziker would then get a goal of his own for the Hawks, Max Krueger and Elijah White with the assist.

Vincent Leaf scored again to plump up the goal differential on a power play, his fourth goal of the game, Deagan Watson and Jameson Clark each with another assist.

Thus the Hawks picked up their first win of 2026 on the road over the Icedogs 7-2 with TJ Wonnacott in net for 27 saves on 29 shots, a 94% save percentage.

On Saturday the game was a closer shave, with edge of the seat action throughout the contest.

In the opening period the Icedogs would strike first scoring the only goal in the first period.

In the second period the Hawks would answer back with a goal from Sean Harris, Elijah Farris picking up the assist.

Going into the final period 1-1 both teams would be searching for the game winner.

However, neither team would find that tie breaker going through the entire final period still knotted at 1 apiece, forcing overtime.

In overtime the home team would find the game winner on an unassisted goal from the Icedogs, closing OT with a 2-1 win.

TJ Wonnacott in the net for his second night in a row had 26 saves on 28 shots while the Bozeman net minder kept the Hawks from the W despite having 38 shots on net with a 97% save percentage for the evening.

The Hawks are on the road again this weekend when they travel to Great Falls for a two game series there.

The Hawks return home January 16 and 17 to take on the Bozeman Icedogs at the Whitney Rink in the M&M’s Center.

For their first home games of 2026 the Hawks will be celebrating the 250th Anniversary of our Great Nation with special America 250 commemorative jerseys.

Game worn jerseys will be for sale on line following Saturday nights game!
