Visitation changes at SMH due to COVID-19 hospitalization and positive case rate
To keep patients safe with the rising numbers of COVID-19 cases in the county, Sheridan Memorial Hospital has had to change its visitation policy.
During a leadership meeting, Chief Nursing Officer Barb Hespen informed the public that the hospital has changed the visitation policy limiting the number of guests.
SMH requires the use of masks during visitations and guests will be screened for symptoms related to the COVID-19 virus.
According to Sheridan County COVID-19 Public Information Officer Jennifer Graves, six new cases of the virus have been added to the total of 2,771 total lab confirmed cases in the county since the pandemic began.
Currently in the county 87 confirmed and 42 probable cases of the virus are active in the community.
Sheridan County has experienced the death of 33 residents due to COVID-19 and nine patients are currently hospitalized suffering from the virus. Graves reports that nine patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours.
