Sheridan: 10 patients hospitalized due to COVID-19

According to Sheridan County COVID-19 Public Information Officer Jennifer Graves, since the beginning of the pandemic, the county has had 2,654 total lab confirmed cases. That’s plus 18 since Friday. Aug. 6.
Within the county 49 cases of the virus are active. Plus one since Friday. But since that same time, 17 residents that were suffering from the virus have recovered.
In Sheridan County 31 residents have died from complications resulting from COVID-19.
With the amount of spread within the community and by using a matrix there are presumed to be up to 24 more active cases in the county than reported.
Currently, 10 residents are hospitalized in Sheridan County due to the virus.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have Sheridan’s Level of community transmission listed as HIGH.
During a news briefing held last week, Sheridan Memorial Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Addlesperger recommended that should people feel sick, they should stay home and not go to work or events in the community. Testing is still available in many pharmacies and at SMH.
The delta variant is in the Sheridan community and has proven to be more transmissible even to those who have been vaccinated. Evidence shows that vaccinated individuals suffer less severe symptoms and are unlikely to require hospitalization should they contract the delta variant.
