Veterans’ Home of Wyoming: One Step Closer to New Domiciliary
Johnson County Commission Chairman Bill Novotny called into Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to report some good news coming out of Cheyenne regarding the Veteran’s Home of Wyoming.
For eight years, the Wyoming Legislature has been adding and then removing funds to the Capital Construction bill needed for improvements to the Wyoming Veteran’s Home. Novotny reported that this year, it looks as if the funding will be available.

Novotny and others have spent nearly a decade pushing for funding for the domiciliary, watching it appear on the state’s capital construction priority list year after year only to be removed before funding could be secured.

Construction costs for the new facility have climbed significantly since the project was first proposed. With national inflation at approximately 2.4% and construction costs rising even faster in many areas, the Johnson County Commission Chairman questioned whether the project would be able to break ground before the price became too high and another solution had to be considered.

Located in Buffalo, the Veterans’ Home of Wyoming provides a secure, caring home for veterans in a mountainside setting with two distinct but connected communities – the Assisted Living Community and the new Skilled Nursing Community.
