Kalif Shriners Keep Tradition Alive with St. Patrick’s Dinner in Sheridan

Members of the Kalif Shrine will host their annual St. Patrick’s Party at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 14 at the Kalif Shrine Center, located at 145 W. Loucks St. in Sheridan.

Kalif Shriners and former Potentates Bill Rathburn and Steve Schlenker appeared on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse along with Paul Beels from the band Sauce to invite the community to attend the Saint Patrick’s Day dinner.

The event is open to the public and will feature a traditional Irish meal of corned beef and cabbage along with locally made Polish sausage. Tickets are $20 per person, while children ages 12 and under can attend for $10.

Schlenker said all funds raised from the event will go toward maintaining the local Kalif Shrine Temple. As membership has declined over the years and maintenance costs continue to rise, it has become increasingly difficult for Sheridan’s Shriners to cover the upkeep of the aging but beloved temple. The group is inviting communities across the Sheridan region to join them for dinner while helping preserve the temple and the traditions of the Kalif Shriners.

The evening will also include live music from the band Sauce and raffle prizes for attendees.

Shriners say the family friendly event offers an opportunity for the community to enjoy a traditional St. Patrick’s celebration while supporting the temple where Kalif Shriners organize many of their charitable efforts, including helping children receive specialized care through Shriners Children’s clinics and hospitals.
