New Big Horn FFA Chapter Members Compete
Recently, Lauren Bigler, Big Horn FFA advisor talked about some of the FFA members who competed in the State Agri-science Fair last week. Natalie Treon, Clara Hortenstine, Bobby Ratcliff, and Micah Pettyjohn.
She added that last Wednesday, Tinley Barnes was the co-champion of the District Creed Speaking contest and Micah Pettyjohn competed in Extemporaneous Speaking.
Congratulations to several of our amazing FFA members!
She added that Big Horn had an FFA chapter over 20 years ago, so they are reviving the program and rechartering the chapter this year. It’s been a very exciting year for the program. “We are affiliated, so every student taking an agriculture class is in FFA. This year, we have 123 members from 7th to 12th grade.”

The fall was full of leadership conferences and conventions, including National Convention, Fall Conference, and Discovery Conference. This spring, we’ve been focused on the competition season. Two weeks ago, we had 4 students compete at the State Agriscience Fair. We also brought one creed and one extemporaneous speaker to districts. Our creed speaker, Tinley Barnes, advanced to regionals where she placed 3rd in the region. We also took a vet science team to the Sheridan Border Wars competition last week.

Coming up in the next few weeks, we will attend state vet science, the CWC horse judging contest, and the State FFA Convention in Cheyenne in April. It’s our hope to bring students from 6 different contests.
On April 23rd at 6:30pm, we will be hosting our spring fundraiser, a spaghetti dinner with chicken poop bingo. Community members can attend and pay at the door. They can also buy a bingo ticket ahead of time for $100 per square.
