NAMI Sheridan Offers Mental Health Support to Those in Need
The National Alliance on Mental Illness is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental health conditions. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has more on how the local chapter of NAMI is working to carry out that mission.
NAMI Sheridan is dedicated to supporting volunteer leaders as they raise awareness about mental health conditions and provide local education, support groups, and community education for those living with mental challenges and the loved ones who care for them. NAMI Board Vice-Chair Terri Markham talks about the support groups that they offer.
Markham says the GPET funds they receive from the City of Sheridan are primarily used for their therapeutic support groups.
Markham said they have launched three therapeutic support groups that have been very successful. We’ll take a closer look at what those support groups focus on in a future story.
