Johnson County’s Commissioners have set a date for a meeting to hold a public hearing concerning the possibility of the Johnson County School Board condensing its members from nine down to seven.

The commission, as part of what Chairman Bill Novotny called the “Boundary Board,” will be involved in the process initiated by the school board.

He gave more details.

Novotny further explained that if the Boundary Board is in agreement with the proposal to shrink the school board, it will then be sent to the State Board of Education for their consideration.

The commission voted to set the date for the meeting on Tuesday, April 7 at 5 p.m. in the commissioner’s board room.
