GPET Service Agreements
Each year the City of Sheridan accepts applications for funding through the General Purpose Excise Tax program. The Sheridan City Council will soon be considering service agreements for the entities that applied for funds. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has more.
The City this year received 20 applications for GPET funds from various local nonprofits and government agencies. The total amount requested is $549,300. Mayor Rich Bridger’s recommendations for the requests is $503,500. City Administrator Stu McRae gave a presentation before the Council and Mayor Bridger at a study session earlier this week.
The City Council is expected to vote on each of the GPET service agreements at their business meeting on Monday, March 16 at 5:30 pm.

One of the hallmarks of a free country is a free press. That’s why I and many of my friends listen to Sheridan Media Radio stations and read this website. They have a tendency to present both sides of an issue and allow healthy discussion.
How are tax-money is spent is of vital importance to a healthy Republic.
I’m of the opinion that lower taxes are always preferred and that tax money be spent only on essential services like: police , courts and basic infrastructure.
I look forward to other thoughts on how our tax money is spent.
