Game and Fish to Offer AIS Inspector Training
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is offering training opportunities this spring for people interested in becoming certified to inspect watercraft for aquatic invasive species. The free training sessions will take place in Sheridan on March 20 and July 24 and are open to watercraft owners and others who want to help prevent the spread of invasive species in Wyoming waters.
While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse, Game and Fish Public Information Specialist Christina Schmidt said the training is especially helpful for boat owners who frequently travel out of state with their watercraft.

Schmidt said the full-day training includes classroom instruction on the biology of aquatic invasive species, their impacts on ecosystems and infrastructure, and how they spread between waterways. The course also covers transport pathways and distribution patterns of invasive species and includes a question-and-answer session and hands-on watercraft inspection exercises.
The training is free, but participants must register in advance through the Wyoming Game and Fish Department or by contacting the Sheridan Regional office. Find contact information here.
