A Sheridan High School baseball player will soon go from being a Bronc to a Broncbuster.

Tanner Hamrick, who plays shortstop for the Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball team, has a signed a written offer of athletic aid, to play the same position at Garden City Community College, which is located in western Kansas.

This past season with the Troopers, he had a batting average of .347 with 34 RBI’s.

Defensively he had a fielding percentage of .943 and helped turn 13 double plays.

Hamrick says he was considering Hutchinson CC, where his older brother Cael went to, but once the Broncbusters made him an offer, he was sold on where he wanted to go.

He explains what he thinks it was that the Garden City CC Coaching Staff saw in him.

“I’m competitive I want to make plays so I do whatever I can. I’m a great team player. I encourage my teammates, I’m always there for them, I always got their backs and act like a leader on the field. Get my infield where I need to be and just doing the little things right, that leads to the big success.”

Hamrick adds he is considering majoring in either sports psychology or radiology.

The Broncbuster baseball team compiled a record of 22-35 this past season.
