BRONC FOOTBALL – The Sheridan Broncs saved their best for last as they crushed Cheyenne East to win the 4A state football championship Saturday evening, as expected the game was tight in the first half with the Broncs up 7-3 at halftime but the second half was all Sheridan and the Broncs dominated the T-Birds making sure they knew which team was the best team in Wyoming this season as they pounded out the 31-3 victory.
Head coach Jeff Mowry says this group of Seniors and players were on a mission and they answered the bell each week.
The Bronc defense held the high powered T-Birds to only three points and Mowry says they made the changes they felt gave them the best chance to beat them.
The program is on a great run, the win Saturday was the 30th state title in school history and the 31st win in a row and Mowry says streaks are fine but the team’s main focus was to win Saturday night.
One of the team’s 19 seniors was Quarterback Dom Berrittini and he said they knew they were in for a tough battle but the Broncs were up to the challenge.
And he says they had a plan for the season and they just played week to week and all that hard work paid off.
And his advice to next year’s seniors and underclassmen.
The team will celebrate for the last time together as the 2023 Sheridan Broncs Wednesday night when they all gather for their season ending championship banquet at Sheridan high school.
