Garrett Otto Of Sheridan HS Wins Both Hurdles Races At State Meet: A Sheridan High School senior may have cleared his final hurdle before he heads off to college.

At the State Track and Field Meet, Garrett Otto won both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles races.

His times were 14.87 and 38.71 seconds respectively.

He says the beginning of those races have usually set the tone for him and before the state meet, he was not satisfied with his starts.

Otto also was part of Sheridan’s state champion 4 by 400 and 1600 sprint medley relay teams.

He is heading to the University of Wyoming, but he does not see any more track and field competition in his future.

Sheridan HS Softball: Sheridan went 19-11 with 2 ties in their inaugural season, finished as runners-up at the North Regional Tournament and qualified for the state tournament.

The sport has been around for 5 years in Wyoming, and although a little late to join the party, the Lady Broncs raised a few eyebrows in the eyes of their competition.

Head Coach Kristen Czaben says one of the things the team needs to do next year, in order to top this year, is get started sooner in terms of off season workouts

For the most part, Sheridan was in the middle of the pack of most team statistical categories, related to batting, scoring and pitching.

Individually, Emerson Kelley led the North Region in home runs with 15 of them, and that was tied for 3rd overall in the state.

Mountain West Conference Sports: What has been known for sometime is now official.

Colorado State, Boise State, Utah State, San Diego State and Fresno State have officially filed the legal paperwork to exit the conference at the end of June of next year, so they can join the PAC-12 conference.

The deadline was this past Sunday, if the schools wanted to avoid paying double what the exit fee was.

Once they leave, four new schools will join and Hawaii will become a full-time member in all sports that the school and the Mountain West Conference offers.

UTEP will join in all-sports.

Northern Illinois will be a football only member, while Grand Canyon University and UC-Davis will join in all sports except football.

UC-Davis has a football team, but has elected to stay in the Football Championship Subdivision and continue to play in the Big Sky Conference, with such teams as Montana and Montana State.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won last night at Miami 6-4.

Hunter Goodman hit both a solo and a 2-run home run for the cause.

Game 2 of the 3-game series is today starting at 4:40pm.
