Two Sheridan And One Buffalo HS Athlete Named Finalists For 2025 Milward Simpson Award

Three North-Central Wyoming High School athletes from the recently graduated class of 2025, have been named as three of the most outstanding and accomplished Wyoming High School athletes, during their high school tenure.

Kelten Crow and Chance Morris of Sheridan, as well as Tommy Wonka of Buffalo have been named as finalists for the 2025 Milward Simpson Award.

The award is named after Simpson who served as team captain for the football, basketball and baseball teams at the University of Wyoming from 1917 to 1921.

Crow and Morris are the 19th and 20th male athletes from Sheridan HS to be named as a finalist for the award, while Wonka is the 8th male from Buffalo.

Five former Broncs have won the annual award, with Dane Steel last winning in 2024.

Chris Prosinski is the only Buffalo HS alumnus to win, back in 2006.

The 50th annual Milward Simpson winners will be announced on Saturday, June 21st at Cody.


Kelten Crow (Football, Wrestling, Soccer): (Signed to wrestle at Western Wyoming CC)

Crow helped the Broncs win the football state championship in all 4 years of his career and was named all-state as a running back and defensive lineman in his senior season, plus he was named the 4A Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Crow won 3 wrestling state championships and went undefeated in his senior season and helped the Broncs win the team title as a sophomore. He also helped the soccer team place 2nd at the 2025 state tournament.


Chance Morris (Football, Indoor Track and Field, Outdoor Track and Field): (Signed to run track and the University of Wyoming)

Morris helped the Broncs win the football state championship in all 4 years of his career. In Indoor Track, he won the state title in both the 55 meter and 200 meter dash races in his senior season, tying the 55-meter state record and setting a new 200 meter state record in the process. The Sheridan boys won the indoor track and field state championship in both his junior and senior seasons. In Outdoor Track and Field, Morris won both the 100 meter and 200 meter dash state championship in both his junior and senior seasons, setting a state record in both races as a junior. In both of his 100 meter dash wins, the margin of victory was 0.01 seconds both times. The Sheridan boys repeated as 4A State Champs in Outdoor Track and Field


Tommy Wonka (Football, Boys Swimming, Boys Soccer): (Signed to swim at the University of South Dakota)

Wonka won the 100 Meter Breaststroke race as a sophomore, junior and senior. He also won the 200 IM and was part of the Bison’s State Championship 200 medley relay team at the 2025 State Meet. Buffalo finished 2nd at the state meet and Wonka was named the 3A Boys Swimming Athlete of the Year. In Boys Soccer, he was named all-state twice, and helped the Bison win the state championship in his senior season.
