Before the Sheridan WYO Rodeo Parade, Main Street in downtown Sheridan may look like a big marathon scene.

The 2025 Sneakers and Spurs Race starts at 8am on Friday, July 11th, in front of the Foot of the Bighorns Store, just north of the Main and Brundage Street intersection and will finish in front of the Sports Stop.

The course is 5 kilometers, but for those who don’t want to go that far, or go at a slower pace, there is also a 1.5 mile route.

Michelle Maneval, who is the race organizer, says the races give people something to do ahead of parade time.

She adds participants have told her they like the different atmospheres in all areas of the course.

“They just love to get out that morning and be with their family and their friends and get some exercise and it’s a beautiful time of morning and it’s cooler. They do the full length of Main at the finish and people are already set up and ready to go for the parade, because it’s the next thing, so it’s like finishing the New York Marathon. You get all these spectators and they’re cheering for you and I think it’s a pretty cool finish that way, just because Sheridan is so busy right now.”

Those who have not registered and wish to do so on race day, can do so at the Sports Stop beginning at 7am.

All proceeds from the race benefit the Sheridan High School cross country team.
