On March 21, Johnny J. The maneuver caused the vehicle to veer off of the roadway and overturn. Johnson allegedly attempted to hit several officers with his vehicle while driving double the speed limit. Johnson was charged with two felonies, Aggravated Assault and Battery and Property Destruction, and seven misdemeanors that include four counts of Reckless Endangering, one count of DUI, one count of Eluding, and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance- Methamphetamine. Johnson, at an arraignment hearing Tuesday in District Court in Sheridan, pleaded “not guilty” to all nine charges.
District Court Judge John Fenn set the two-day jury trial for October 26 and scheduled a pretrial conference for September 24 at 9 am. Bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were previously set in Circuit Court with the addition that Johnson be drug tested randomly for methamphetamine use. If convicted on all nine counts, Johnson faces up to 26 years in prison and fines of up to $26,500.
