Council Approves Employee Compensation Increases
The Sheridan City Council approved a resolution Monday night that implements employee compensation increases in the amount of 1.75 percent in the pay scale. When the City Council adopted the budget for the current fiscal in June, it included funds for compensation increases for City employees. Due to the economic uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Council voted to not implement the funds at that time and to revisit the issue in the fall.
City Human Resources Director Heather Doke said that as of July 1, health insurance premiums increased by 13 percent, which has resulted in the reduction in take home pay for all City employees with health insurance. Doke said the employee increases will go into effect soon.
Other business from the Council meeting included approval of the Arapahoe Subdivision and second reading approval of an ordinance to rezone 11.83 acres of unplatted land from R-1 Residence to B-1 Business District, located at 646 East 5th Street. We’ll have more from the Council meeting in future stories.
