Sheridan Mavericks Lacrosse: While most spring sports are having their regional meets this weekend, one Sheridan team will head north of the border, to try to win a championship.

The Montana High School Lacrosse League Championship Tournament will be held tomorrow and Sunday in Bozeman.

The Sheridan Mavericks are the #1 seed in the 7-team JV-League bracket.

The team gets a first round bye, meaning the boys don’t have to play a game tomorrow morning, and instead will be in the semi-finals tomorrow afternoon against the winner of the game between Bozeman vs. Cheyenne.

The Mavs are undefeated this season and it’s only been recently that they’ve faced tougher competition, which in turn has resulted in smaller margins of victory.

Lathen Underwood from Sheridan Academy says that has not discouraged anything, in fact it’s been a learning experience.

Ridge Franklin of Big Horn High School says the recent close shaves have helped Maverick players not get too big headed about things.

The Sheridan Lady Mavericks are also scheduled to be in Bozeman this weekend, but a schedule for the girls JV league has not yet been published.

Sheridan HS Soccer: The Sheridan High School girls shutout Cheyenne East yesterday 6-nil at the 4A East Regional Tournament, and clinched a spot in next weekend’s state tournament.

The Lady Broncs play in the regional semi-finals today against Thunder Basin, starting at 3pm and will play one more game tomorrow, against either the winner or loser of the other semi-final game, between top seed Laramie and Cheyenne Central.

The Sheridan boys had a first round bye and will be in the semi-finals today against Campbell County at 1pm.

The other semi-final is between Cheyenne Central and Thunder Basin.
