Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey Team Splits Road Games To Open 2026-27 Season

Starting the season on the road can be a challenge, but getting a weekend split of games can be viewed as a win in some ways.

The Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey team lost in the first game of the season at Rapid City last Friday 5-3, but recovered on Saturday to win 4-3 in overtime.

The first game was a penalty fest on both sides, but then Sheridan cleaned up their act in game 2.

Head Coach Todd McIlrath says it’s still early in the season and there’s no shortage of players doing what needs to be done to help the team win.

“Otto Reinhart played unbelievable in net. Lucas Paliwodzinski had a great late goal for us. Jarek Solak was really digging, kind of got a goal late in the 2nd period and kind of some unsung heroes. I mean we had a guy like Jasper Wedekind, who didn’t play Friday night and stepped up and was our player of the game on Saturday, so knowing that we have contributors that can come from every corner of the locker room is a huge piece.”

The Hawks are on the road again this weekend with a game on Friday at Helena, and on Saturday at Great Falls.
