Probation Revocation Hearing Held in District Court

At a sentencing hearing this past summer in District Court, 33-year-old Stephen Hall pleaded guilty to an amended charge of misdemeanor theft. He was originally charged with four felonies for fraudulently using a line of credit at a business in Sheridan between September and December of 2022. In July of 2023, Hall was sentenced to 180 days in jail, suspended in lieu of one-year of unsupervised probation. Hall was also ordered to pay $1,580.17 in court costs, public defender fees and restitution.

On January 5, 2024, the State filed a petition to revoke Halls’ probation for failure to pay court costs, fees and restitution during his year of probation. Hall, at an order to show cause hearing Tuesday, admitted to the State’s allegations that he violated the terms of his probation and said he has not made any payments towards the amount he was ordered to pay last summer. District Court Judge Darci Phillips ruled that Hall willfully violated his probation and ordered that his probation be revoked. A disposition hearing to determine Hall’s punishment will be set at a later date.
