Emma Tate of Bozeman, Mont, won the Kicking Horse Trail half-marathon in 1 hour, 31:51 minutes Saturday.

The first-ever Kicking Horse Trail Run was held at Black Tooth Park Saturday. The event started with a half-marathon followed by a 10K.

Emma Tate of Bozeman, Mont, won the half-marathon in 1 hour, 31:51 minutes. Noah Jennings was top male finisher in 1:36.20. Tate, 25, ran the race with Parker Filius of Sheridan, the husband of her twin, Ellie.

She said she has run Soldier’s Ridge before. “So, I felt really familiar with the course and it was really well marked. She said once she started running Hidden Hoot, it had a lot of curves and she could see how it could be a fun mountain bike course.

“But it was fun to rip around some of the tight turns that they had,” she said.
