Jo Co Commission Updated on Lake DeSmet Water Year

Lake DeSmet Operations Manager Paul Mavrakis, gave a report to the Johnson County Commission on the water year at the reservoir.

He said the elevation of the lake is the lowest he has seen in years, possibly ever.

He gave more details.

Mavrakis also said the Operations Department was able to get an agreement with the Wyoming Water Development Commission (WWDC) who owns 31% of the water in the lake.

Thirty-one percent of the revenue generated by the lake will be credited to the WWDC and charged to their water right, not Johnson County’s.

He said no money actually changed hands, operations charged the WWDC 31% of all the bills the lake generates, and will credit roughly $10,000 back to them over the next couple of billing cycles.
