The Sheridan Community Land Trust will host the First Tracks Volunteer Dig on Wednesday June 17.
Volunteers will assist in finishing the SCLT’s latest trail – The Link, which will be part of the Soldier Ridge Trail system. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their favorite trail bike, running shoes or hiking boots to put the first tracks on a portion of The Link, which will help to pack the surface of the new trail.
In an interview with Sheridan Media, SCLT director of marketing and development Chris Verba said the event will also give instruction on the basics of trail building.
Work on the trail should last about two hours, Verba said. Volunteers should bring gloves, water, sturdy footwear and a hard-tooth rake (if they own one). This event will involve labor-intensive trail building and finishing methods.
Volunteers are being asked to complete the SCLT’s volunteer release found at https://sheridanclt.org/volunteer-individual-release/.
Volunteers will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Soldier Ridge trail-head, then drive to the worksite.
