The start of the 2023 Wyoming Legislative General Session is less than one week away, and legislators in North-Central Wyoming are attending a few more events to promote their ideas and answer questions from the people, before they head to Cheyenne.
On Wednesday (January 4th) Senator Dave Kinskey along with Representatives Cyrus Western and Ken Pendergraft were among those at the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce’s Pre-Legislative Luncheon at the Ramada Plaza.
Among the many issues that will be discussed at the session, will be the governor’s supplemental budget proposal, and how to save and spend the budget surplus that the state currently has.
Representative Western says one of the issues he’s interested in is the residential property tax amendment which is House Joint Resolution number 1.
“The average assessment went up 40% in Sheridan County, which is a lot of money and so I think putting a cap on that and dealing with that situation and giving our senior citizens and just start blue collaring folks across the state and certainly across my district, giving them that break, because I mean that’s their property. That’s a really important fundamental thing to them, so that’s going to be one of my top priorities.”
More than 150 total house bills and senate files have been filed within the Legislative Service Office.
