Now that the title of Miss Rodeo Wyoming is officially hers, a Sheridan County Cowgirl isn’t waiting long to represent the Cowboy State.
As of this past Sunday (January 1st), Reata Cook now holds the title of Miss Rodeo Wyoming 2023.
Part of her duties will be to represent Wyoming and the sport of rodeo at many big events, throughout most of the country.
First up is the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo in Denver, and the kickoff parade for the 2 ½ week long event is this coming Thursday (January 5th).
Cook says a number of her counterparts from other states will be there as well, and most of them will stay for about 3 or 4 days.
As Miss Rodeo Wyoming, she explains why she has to stay there longer than most others.
“Because we’re a neighboring state to Colorado, I get to be there for the entire time. I do leave for a weekend during that time and go to Dallas market, with one of my sponsors and I get to go there and kind of shop around, and get some new clothes in the wardrobe and after that’s done, I’ll come back to Denver Stock Show and finish my time there and that’s basically January.”
Cook adds that one of the events that she will travel to in February will be in Kissimmee, Florida and if she doesn’t fly there, it’s a near 2,200 mile drive one-way.
