Aaron PalmerTyler Finnicum, Public Information Officer on the House Draw Fire, released an update Saturday morning.
Current Situation: The House Draw Fire currently at 174,691 acres. An infrared flight occurred yesterday, giving fire managers a better size-up of the fire.
Crews made good progress yesterday securing the fire perimeter and containment is now at 25%.
Division A (western, I-90 to Irigary Rd): Crews added containment from I-90 to Crazy Woman Creek. Today, crews will continue adding and connecting containment from Crazy Woman Creek to the division break at Irigary Rd. Crews will also continue to patrol and mop up hot spots, as well as secure unburned islands of fuel.
Division B (western edge, I-90 north near Tipperary Rd): Crews worked to tie in containment lines as well as patrol and mop up hop spots. This work will continue today.
Division N (Irigary Rd, around the south end of the fire): Firecrews made good progress working around the southern end of the fire, adding in containment to portions on the western and eastern perimeters. Today, crews will continue to secure containment lines as well as patrol and mop up.
Division R (northeastern edge, I-90 north near Tipperary Rd): This corner of the fire continues to see smoke and heat. Yesterday, crews in this division worked to secure containment lines as well as patrol and mop up. This work will continue today.
Division Z (eastern, I-90 south to Irigary Rd): Yesterday, firecrews conducted mop up activities and secured slop overs (areas where the fire crossed containment). This work will continue today as well as securing unburned islands within the fire.
Fire Conditions and Weather: Ongoing gusty winds up to 30 mph are anticipated, with winds increasing to 30-40 mph mid-afternoon. Humidity is forecasted in the 15-25% range. Saturday will continue to be hot and dry before cooling Sunday, with highs in the low 80s. Precipitation is anticipated for late afternoon Sunday.
