A Sheridan County Rodeo Queen who will represent Wyoming next year, recently got a taste of what she will experience when tries to win a bigger crown.
Reata Cook, who is the 2023 Miss Rodeo Wyoming, was in Las Vegas earlier this month at the National Finals Rodeo, to watch her predecessor compete for the title of Miss Rodeo America 2023.
As Miss Rodeo Wyoming, Cook will compete next December, for the title of Miss Rodeo America 2024.
She says when it’s time for that competition, she will go up against more than 30 other rodeo queens, which is way more than the 2 opponents she faced for the Miss Rodeo Wyoming crown.
Putting aside the number of competitors, Miss Cook adds there are a number of categories she will be judged in such as horsemanship, appearance, and personality, and the competition will start not long after she arrives in Las Vegas.
“You start the week off with check-in and a question off of your application in front of the judges and an audience, and your speaking and your personality and your appearance is scored on that and you just move along through the week.”
Miss Cook says she already has a very busy January schedule, as she will attend rodeos in Denver and Dallas.
