For those who still watch TV the old fashioned way, a couple of channels have been affected by what is suspected to be the recent snow, cold and winds that have hit Wyoming throughout December.
About 1 month ago, the Sheridan-area translator for KTVQ out of Billings went out and the exact cause was not determined.
The translator was installed in 2019 on the Bosin Rock communication site on Red Grade Road.
The station says the translator that was being used would not produce full power and repair crews are still trying to determine why.
An older translator was put in its place, but then it went down on December 1st.
On December 17th, the station was able to get a translator back in service and has been broadcasting to the Sheridan area since.
Elsewhere, Wyoming PBS out of Riverton reported last week that its relay tower on Pine Hill in Carbon County collapsed.
Pine Hill is located about 25-35 miles northwest of the town of Medicine Bow.
Station management said they anticipate it won’t be until spring-time before a tower crew can access the site to repair the tower, and are working on another way to deliver a signal to southern Wyoming.
