As the seasons change, so do the types of scams going around.
The Wyoming Chapter of the AARP says tricksters have adjusted their plans to swindle people out of their money based on what’s going on around this time of year.
Such scams include Medicare fraud, as scammers pose as insurance providers pretending to offer great deals, because the open enrollment period is underway.
Veterans Day is about 2 weeks away, and scammers are trying to get people involved in the Camp Lejeune Settlement.
That incident involved US Marine Corps Personnel, their families and locals who either consumed or bathed in contaminated water at the Jacksonville, North Carolina camp, from 1953 to 1987.
A settlement in that case was reached back in August, and scammers are trying to get as much of the money as they can, and not give it to those who deserve it.
Also tech support scams are on the rise again as potential victims may receive an urgent phone call or a pop-up message on their electronic device saying it’s infected with a virus.
With the holiday approaching, so are the holiday shopping scams, plus mail thieves and porch pirates will soon be on the rise as well.
