Several Motorists Injured In 4-Vehicle Crash In Sheridan
At approximately 5:46 p.m. on December 27, 2023, the Sheridan Police Department received a report of a multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of Coffeen Avenue and Illinois Street.
Reporting parties told dispatchers one vehicle was on fire, from which Samaritans had extracted one person.
Callers also reported potential injuries.
Officers from the Sheridan Police Department as well as units from Sheridan Fire Rescue and the
Wyoming Regional Emergency Medical Services (WREMS) also responded.
Upon preliminary investigation, officers suspect a pickup truck that was westbound on Lowell Avenue drove through the intersection and crashed into three vehicles, one of which caught fire.
Bystanders controlled the vehicle fire prior to the arrival of emergency services.
Several vehicle occupants were transported to Memorial Hospital by WREMS with injuries.
The medical status will not be released.
Impairment was not a contributing factor.
This crash is under investigation and no further information will be released.
The Sheridan Police Department would like to thank everyone that stopped to help the injured parties and fellow members of the community.
Their actions are fine examples of neighbors helping neighbors.

I cannot believe it took you this long to report this incident. I also know that a number of injured people were taken to ER via private vehicle. How come it took so long for EMS to get there when they are less than a mile away.

By the way, that is a very dangerous intersection. I see some ways to make it safer..but I understand a 50 plus grand study would have to be done!
